About Us

Our Kilimanjaro climbs are managed and organised by Winds of Hope Pty. Ltd, a registered Australian charity. All profits from our climbs go towards our fundraising activities — healthcare and educational services in Tanzania and Uganda, Africa.

We're a small group of Australian adventurers with a big love of Africa, and a simple belief: that an unforgettable adventure can also do a world of good.

Born from a love of adventure

It all started with a passion for the mountains and for East Africa. Between us we've trekked to the Roof of Africa more times than we can count, tracked mountain gorillas through Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, and explored the wild corners of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda — the places the guidebooks miss as well as the icons everyone dreams of.

Standing on the summit of Kilimanjaro at sunrise is the sort of experience that changes you. We loved it so much that we wanted to share it — to help people from all walks of life, all ages and all abilities reach the highest point in Africa, and come home with a story they'll tell for the rest of their lives.

Climbing with purpose — our social enterprise

We're a social enterprise, not a tour company chasing profit. Every dollar of profit from our climbs goes straight into our charitable work — funding education and healthcare for disadvantaged communities in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, delivered through our partner NGO, Winds of Hope Limited, based in Kampala.

It means your climb is about so much more than reaching the summit. The adventure of a lifetime becomes a force for good, helping children into classrooms and families towards better health, long after you've come down off the mountain. Many of our climbers take this even further, turning their climb into a personal fundraiser for a cause close to their heart.

Authentic, local and fair

We are not a travel agent. We have many years of experience organising tours to Africa — particularly in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania — and we work hand in hand with vetted, professional local tour operators to deliver amazing experiences at honest, non-commercial rates.

Working directly with local guides and crews keeps your trip genuine, eco-friendly and free of the usual tourist traps — and it makes sure the people who make your adventure possible are treated, and paid, fairly. It's adventure done the right way.
