A gentle climb through montane rainforest to the Mandara huts.
Mandara Hut → Horombo Hut · 2700m → 3720m · 12 km · ~5.5 hrs
The forest opens into moorland with views of Mawenzi and Kibo.
Horombo Hut → Horombo Hut · 3720m → 3720m · 5 km · ~3 hrs
A rest and acclimatisation day with a short hike towards the Zebra Rocks (about 4,000 m).
Horombo Hut → Kibo Hut · 3720m → 4700m · 10 km · ~5.5 hrs
Cross the stark saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to the summit-base hut.
Kibo Hut → Horombo Hut · 4700m → 3720m · 18 km · ~11.5 hrs
Midnight summit via Gilman's Point to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), then descend to Horombo.
Horombo Hut → Marangu Gate · 3720m → 1980m · 18 km · ~5.5 hrs
A long, steady descent through moorland and forest to the gate.
